Lecrae, TI, Killer Mike share ‘Headphones’ visual

The song appears on Reconstruction

Hip-hop heavyweights T.I. & Killer Mike join forces with Lecrae to share heartwarming messages for departed loved ones in his latest music video for “Headphones.” A fan-favorite from his tenth studio album, Reconstruction, the visual pays tribute to family members, friends and iconic and influential artists from hip-hop’s past.

Directed by AlphaMale Visuals, the video is a visually striking production that harnesses the healing power of music. It opens on a shot of Lecrae crate-digging, sorting through vinyls from late rappers including Tupac Shakur, Nipsey Hussle, Takeoff, and more. Three of hip-hop’s most skilled MCs come together to reflect on the people who had the greatest impact on their lives. Lost in the warmth of nostalgia, the track finds them in a state of reminiscence, underscored by introspective lyrics that instantly strike a chord with listeners.

The music video arrives the day before Lecrae hits the road for his Reconstruction World Tour, which kicks off tomorrow (Fri, Sept 5th) in Lusaka, Zambia. The four-time Grammy Award winning rapper tapped Miles Minnick, Gio and Torey D’Shaun as support on select dates for the 42-date run, with shows throughout many territories in both Africa and Australia, as well as additional stops in Lecrae’s hometown of Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and Nashville.

Reconstruction finds the Reach Records founder looking inward and getting back to the core beliefs and practices that made him a believer in the first place. In a spiritual sense, Lecrae is reconstructing walls that are the Fruit of the Spirit, which can be seen as building blocks of faith: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, and self-control.
