The robust compilation album features culture-defining songs from 2000
Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings kicks off a year of Y2K celebrations with the announcement of its compilation album, Y2K25: The Music That Made The Millennium. 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic start to the millennium and Sony Music’s catalog is full of culture-defining albums from some of the most celebrated artists to ever perform. In celebration of 25 years of these smash hits, Y2K25: The Music That Made The Millennium is available for fans as an exclusive album on CD and vinyl.
Featuring some of the most popular hits from the start of the decade, including, “Genie in a Bottle” by Christina Aguilera, “I Want it That Way” by the Backstreet Boys, “Oops! … I Did It Again” by Britney Spears, and many more, this compilation album brings together some of the biggest hits from chart-topping artists in one place. 2000 was all about breaking records and with their iconic music, Sony Music artists spent over 35 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, over 20 weeks with No. 1 albums on the Billboard Top 200 and had five out of the ten top selling albums of that year.
Spanning pop, hip-hop, rock, and more, this cross-genre album offers fans the opportunity to enjoy and celebrate the music that continues to shape pop culture today. Y2K25: The Music That Made The Millennium will be released on June 20th, just in time for summer. The album will be available on CD and LP vinyl formats (black vinyl widely and pink vinyl, exclusively through Target). The CD offers an additional eight tracks, not offered on vinyl, from Toni Braxton, Celine Dion, Savage Garden, Macy Gray, Whitney Houston, Lit, Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson.
