The album includes a newly uncovered version of the crooner’s rendition of The Beatles’ “Michelle”
Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings has released an expanded digital release of its Luther Vandross’ Never Too Much: Greatest Hits featuring a newly uncovered version of Vandross’s rendition of The Beatles’ “Michelle.” The updated digital album also adds “If This World Were Mine” with Cheryl Lynn.
The original December 2024 release of Never Too Much: Greatest Hits featured the only known existing version of Vandross’ soulful rendition of “Michelle,” which was found on a cassette in his archives. Very little was known about this recording, but upon release of the album last year, it was discovered that Vandross’ version was produced by the late great Richard Perry, according to Perry’s associate producer Steve Lindsey. The final version, which was never previously released, is now included on the album.
The excitement around Luther Vandross continues this year with the global release of Dawn Porter’s acclaimed documentary Luther: Never Too Much. The film will return to AMC Theaters in the U.S. through February 9th. Luther: Never Too Much will also premiere on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on Friday, February 7th at 9 pm ET, MAX starting February 8th, and on Sky Arts in the UK on Friday, February 14th.
