Event is part of Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City Fest
On June 10th, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, in partnership with Bad Boy/Atlantic/Rhino Records and The Christopher Wallace Estate, will host an iconic orchestral tribute to The Notorious B.I.G that will honor his legacy. The creative black-tie event will feature a concert symphony performance of Biggie’s songs from the multi-platinum album, Ready to Die and RIAA Diamond certified Life After Death. Miguel Atwood-Ferguson will arrange and conduct it, with appearances by The Originals and other special guests.
The event, part of Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City, is free to the public on a first come-first served basis. Doors at 6:30 pm. There are a very limited number of free advanced reservation tickets available starting June 6th via the Lincoln Center’s website.
Fans can also experience the show at Lincoln Center via an exclusive live stream on the Amazon Music Channel on Twitch. Part of “Credit The Culture” — Amazon Music’s ongoing celebration of Black Music Month — the livestream will begin at 7:30 pm ET. Fans can pre-order exclusive Biggie Smalls t-shirts commemorating the livestream at Amazon and in the Amazon Music app.
This week, SiriusXM launched a new limited-run channel, Notorious Radio, that will honor the legacy of Brooklyn-born rapper and celebrate the 25th anniversary of his notable album Life After Death. Notorious Radio will feature his entire catalog of music, including songs he’s been featured on and music inspired by the late rapper. Specials featuring B.I.G. ‘s mother, Ms.Voletta Wallace and other notable guests will be available on Notorious Radio on satellite ch. 105 from June 8th through June 14th and on the SXM App until June 30th. Fans can listen to Notorious Radio for free on SiriusXM through June 6th.
“G.O.A.T.” – the first new song from The Notorious B.I.G. in 17 years is out now via digital and streaming services in celebration of the iconic rapper’s 50th birthday. Global superstar Ty Dolla $ign supplies a verse on the Afrobeats-influenced track while rising Nigerian R&B star Bella Alubo delivers the hooks. Biggie appears on the song in samples from “I Love The Dough,” a fan favorite from Life After Death.
On June 10th, the labels will release a vinyl version of Life After Death, Biggie’s diamond-certified, GRAMMY-nominated second album. The Life After Death 25th Anniversary Super Deluxe boxed set consists of eight LPs and a booklet that features rare photos from the album cover shoot, liner notes by Sheldon Pearce, and exclusive reflections from members of the team who worked on the original album. In addition to the 2022 remaster of Life After Death, the set also includes the Hypnotize 12”, Mo Money Mo Problems 12”, Sky’s The Limit 12”, and Nasty Boy 12”.
Life After Death debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 in 1997. It was the first album to feature two back-to-back posthumous No. 1 singles: “Hypnotize” and “Mo Money Mo Problems.” The album received a GRAMMY nomination in the category of Best Rap Album. “Hypnotize” earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance, and “Mo Money Mo Problems” was nominated for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The RIAA has awarded the album a Diamond certification for more than five million copies sold of the double LP set.
The events are part of the celebration surrounding what would’ve been the rapper’s 50th birthday on May 21st.
