Trek will now kick off this fall in Europe

Live Nation and Madonna have confirmed that the first leg of The Celebration Tour in North America is unfortunately postponed as the Material Girl continues to recover from a “serious bacterial infection” that led to a multi day stay in a hospital last month. The global pop star shared the news in a social media message on Monday (July 10th), thanking fans for their continued support.

“Thank you for your positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” Madonna shares on social media on Monday (July 10th).

“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.

“My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can!

“The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe.

“I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support.”

Dates affected are July 15th in Vancouver through October 8th in Las Vegas. Rescheduled dates will be announced as soon as possible. Fans are encouraged to hold onto their tickets as they will be valid for the new dates once announced.

The tour is currently scheduled to kick off in Europe in October with dates still set for the US between December 2023 and January 2024.

Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, announced in late June that the pop star would be postponing the trek after an unexpected ICU stay.

“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” the message reads.

“At this time, we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”

Madonna, the best-selling female solo touring artist of all time, has sold out over 40 shows on the trek, and also dominated global charts with her career-spanning Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones.

Recently, she teamed with Sam Smith for “Vulgar” and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti for “Popular” from the HBO series, The Idol, in which The Weeknd co-created, co-wrote and co-stars.
