Chesnutt has been forced to cancel shows

Nineties country star Mark Chesnutt has been forced to cancel two shows this weekend as he’s in critical condition in an East Tennessee hospital for undisclosed medical reasons. Chesnutt’s team posted a message on social media earlier today (Thurs, Nov 2nd) sharing the news, but that post has since been removed across all platforms, although it’s unclear why.

“Mark and his management team regret we have had to cancel two shows this week. Mark was admitted to the hospital Wednesday evening and is now in the Critical Care Unit in stable condition. He is receiving care and undergoing multiple tests to identify the cause of his medical issues,” the message read. “We would like to apologize to our fans that have always been so very supportive and hope you will keep Mark in your prayers. We will post more updates once the doctors determine his condition.”

Chesnutt’s shows Shipshewana, Indiana and Henderson, Tennessee this weekend are affected. His next scheduled date is November 9th in Cedar Park, Texas.

His team has released the following update as of the afternoon of November 3rd.

“Mark Chesnutt is currently undergoing a medical evaluation after being admitted to a local hospital on Wednesday, November 1st. Mark and Tracy appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Mark is looking forward to seeing everyone soon,” the statement reads.

This is the second hospitalization this year for the 60-year-old “Bubba Shot The Jukebox” singer who canceled three shows in February for an unspecified illness. In 2021, he was forced off the road until summer 2022 due to emergency back surgery.

As one of the 90s country’s most-played artists, Chesnutt has earned 23 top 10 hits with 14 hitting No. 1. He’s sold more than 12 million albums and was awarded the CMA Horizon Award (now known as Best New Artist) and Vocal Event of the Year in 1993 for “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair” with George Jones, Garth Brooks, Travis Tritt, Joe Diffie and other country stars at the time.
