Band will host a variety of events in each city it performs

Metallica is set to kick off the North American leg of its 2023-2024 M72 World Tour in early August. In celebration, the band will be hosting “take over” events in each city it’ll be performing, ranging from film showings, pop-up stores and live music.

“We’re just a little over a month away from the North American kick-off of the M72 tour in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Friday, August 4! And you know that when we town for more than a day, we’ve gotta make a weekend out of it, so we’ve got details for you on many of the takeover activities as the tour travels across the country this summer and fall,” the band shares.

“On each Saturday between the two ‘No Repeat’ weekend shows, there will be film fests, pop-up stores, Ross Halfin book signings, AWMH-sponsored opportunities to give back, and so much more. And let’s not forget live music! The lineup making its way through North America with us includes some familiar faces: OTTTO and Bastardane, along with tribute bands Damage Inc., Motorbreath, and Sandman. Plus, a few more acts will join the fun in individual cities.”

Events will be held in the New Jersey/New York area, Montreal, Dallas/Arlington, Los Angeles, Phoenix/Glendale, St. Louis and Detroit through mid-November. Tickets for most of the live shows and film festivals go on sale this Friday, June 30th at 10 am local time, with pre-sales for Fifth Members starting tomorrow (Tues, June 27th) at 10 am local time.

Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey, in North America only, and promoted by Live Nation, Metallica’s M72 World Tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The trek will play 44 shows in 22 cities around the world and feature Pantera, Mammoth WVH, Architects, Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills and Greta Van Fleet at select stops.

The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage for a complete 360 view of the show, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Each weekend offers a variety of Enhanced Experiences, ranging from access to a meet and greet, production and stage tour, food and beverage in the “Black Box” lounge to early entry into the venue and the aforementioned Snake Pit.

A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band’s All Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH’s efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million – providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.

The band will bring the trek to cinemas from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX on Friday, August 18th and Sunday, August 20th.

The tour is in support of the band’s 12th studio album, 72 Seasons, due April 14th via its own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track project is Metallica’s first full length collection of new material since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.
