Band will perform in Ontario, Canada this weekend
Trucks hauling gear for Metallica’s M72 World Tour were involved in a major accident today (Thurs, Aug 10th) in upstate New York. Reports indicate the accident happened on I-87, just north of Lake George, New York as the trucks were en route from East Rutherford, New Jersey to Montreal, Quebec in Canada, where the band will perform two shows this weekend.
It appears no injuries were reported, according to John Kip Kish who posted pictures of the scene online. It’s unclear what happened, and how much damage the equipment sustained. However, Mat Paré working on the local crew in Ontario, says some “brackets for moving lights were destroyed.” The accident won’t affect the performances as Paré confirms spotlights were rented and “everything is up and ready” regarding the staging for the shows.
The band has not publicly commented on the accident.

The concerts will takes place tomorrow (Fri, Aug 11th) and Sunday (Aug 13th) at Stade Olympique.
The band is currently on a two year trek in support of its latest album, 72 Seasons, released this spring. Each tour stop features a “No Repeat Weekend” performance with a different set list and supporting acts each night. Movie audiences can check visit their local theaters on Friday, August 18th and Sunday, August 20th to see the live concerts with encore showings in between.
The band will also headline the upcoming inaugural metal festival, Power Trip, in Indio, California in October alongside AC/DC, Judas Priest, Tool, Guns N Roses and Iron Maiden.
