The Best of Milli Vanilli (35th Anniversary) is due this fall

The 35th anniversary of pop sensation Milli Vanilli will be celebrated with a special release that pays homage to the iconic group’s timeless hits called The Best of Milli Vanilli (35th Anniversary). The 17-song package will be available CD, cassette, black LP and colored vinyl editions on November 17th via Sony’s Legacy Recordings.

This commemorative collection promises fans a journey through tracks that define an era, including chart-toppers like “Girl You Know It’s True,” “Blame It On the Rain,” “I’m Gonna Miss You,” and “Baby Don’t Forget My Number.” These songs continue to resonate with audiences, showcasing Milli Vanilli’s enduring influence on the music landscape.

Milli Vanilli was one of the most popular music groups in the late 80s and early 90s, with over eight million copies of their first album “All Or Nothing” sold worldwide. With their debut hit “Girl, You Know It’s True” a unique hype was created, turning the two former club dancers Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan into pop superstars. They were acclaimed, adored and celebrated.

In 1990, the group was awarded a Grammy award for “Best New Artist,” which was later revoked after it became clear to the world that Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan – the face of the project – never really sang in it. The group was put together by music producer Frank Farian, also behind other groups such as Boney M., La Bouche and No Mercy and used vocals from singers Brad Howell, John Davis, Jodie Rocco, Linda Rocco and Charles Shaw. The scandal made headlines worldwide, and the duo went their separate ways.

Paramount+ is profiling the duo in a new documentary that will be released on October 24th. Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and MRC, Milli Vanilli tells the story of Pilatus and Morvan, who became fast friends during their youth in Germany. With Rob coming from a broken home and Fabrice having left an abusive household, they shared a similar upbringing, as well as a future goal: to become famous superstars. In a few short years, their dreams came true. Their first album went platinum six times in 1989, and their hit “Girl You Know It’s True” sold over 30 million singles worldwide.
