Artist appears on NBC’s AGT

Songwriter and artist Mitch Rossell has signed with Dreamcatcher Artists. The rising country star joins the independent label after receiving a standing ovation following an audition with his self-penned “Son” on NBC’s America’s Got Talent earlier this summer that left the audience in tears and the judges in awe of the aspiring country singer.

“This is definitely the most personal thing I’ve ever written. It is a really emotional moment for me for a lot of reasons,” Rossell says of the song. “I lost my dad when I was a kid and he’s the reason I picked up the guitar, and he wanted me to play music. Later in life, I decided to start playing guitar to honor that wish…this song is about him.”

Rossell received positive responses from each of the judges — Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and host Terry Crews — sending him to the Qualifiers round where he is among 55 acts currently performing live on NBC. Last night (Tues, Aug 22nd), Rossell performed “All I Need To See” with his band, receiving another standing ovation and more acclaim.

“You are the real deal! Honestly!” Cowell says as the audience cheers. “And I really really hope this is going to work out for you because you are super talented, such a nice person, great band…everyone was just amazing!”

“You, for me, are the best act so far tonight, and I think you are the act to beat, one of two that going through [to the finals],” Mandell adds. “America, make me right!”

In celebration, Rossell has released a powerful radio edit of the track, which has garnered over 20 million all-time streams. The song reflects on the world’s most famous landmarks still yet to be seen but notes they pale in comparison to the vision of love created by his partner.

“That’s a star,” Mandell said as Rossell raised his hat to the audience following his audition that aired in June. Mandell’s prediction that “Son” would be the top streamed country song the following day came true. Rossell’s streams have increased more than 999% since appearing on the show.

Rossell was discovered in an airport bar by country legend Garth Brooks. Brooks then invited the budding country star to join as an opener during the 2016-2017 leg of his North American arena comeback tour. Rossell scored his first cut as a songwriter and first-ever No. 1 when Brooks took “Ask Me How I Know” to the top of the country charts in 2017, marking the country legend’s 20th No. 1 hit. Rossell followed LANCO’s Brandon Lancaster as the second straight No. 1 written by a single person.

“He actually invited me over to his house. And I had sent him a few songs that I had just kind of done on my own,” Rossell told us in a 2017 interview about Brooks cutting the song. “I had played a few different instruments on them and I had kind of sent them just to give him some new tunes that I was writing as ideas for my record. I just wanted his advice. But he invited me over to his house, and as we were talking he was like, ‘This one’s great, that one’s great.’ And then he goes, ‘There’s a song in here that I want to cut.’ I kind of had a feeling which one it was, because when I wrote it I could just hear him doing it, you know? And he goes, ‘Ask Me How I Know,’ and immediately, I felt that chill that just runs through your whole body. It was like, ‘Oh my gosh.'”

Rossell also has three other co-penned songs Brooks has cut — “That’s What Cowboys Do,” “All Day Long,” and “Dive Bar,” the latter featuring Blake Shelton.

In 2022, Rossell once again joined Brooks on his stadium tour with just an acoustic guitar, winning over thousands of new fans every night.

In December of last year, Rossell received a surprise introduction from Brooks at his Grand Ole Opry debut, where he performed his singles “Son” and “All I Need To See.” Rossell’s original music continues to capture the hearts of many, garnering over 91 million all-time streams with songs like “All l Need To See,” “2020” and “Ran into You” featuring Trisha Yearwood.
