New music video and song are available now

Platinum-selling Riser House/Sony Music Nashville recording artist Mitchell Tenpenny has released a new music video and song available across all digital platforms with “Not Today.”

Mitchell wrote “Not Today” with Chris DeStefano, Michael Whitworth, and Claire Douglas. During the writing session, Mitchell presented a song he wrote in college titled “Just Not Today.” He had always wanted to re-write it, take it from a ballad to an up-tempo.

“The song is about trying to get over a breakup,” shared Mitchell. “You know eventually it’s going to happen. But today you are going to feel it. You are going to eat the pain and remember everything that happened and move on later.”

The “Not Today” music video was written and directed by Jeff Johnson and filmed in Nashville less than two weeks ago. The scenes depict Mitchell sitting in an electric chair. He’s found guilty of a crime as memories of his life and girlfriend flash through his mind– all in reverse. He feels the electricity running through his veins and through his body as he struggles with the pain, and he loves it. The video also features media personality Morgan Willett as the female lead.

Mitchell has begun performing the song on tour to tremendous reaction from his Night Owl fans while appearing as a special guest on Luke Combs’ Growin’ Up and Getting’ Old Tour and Jordan Davis’ The Damn Good Time Tour.
