The exhibit runs through December 13th in New York City

Last night (Thurs, Nov 30th), Morrison Hotel Gallery’s New York City SoHo flagship location hosted an intimate evening in celebration of award-winning photographer, painter, entrepreneur, film director, recording artist, and lyricist Lynn Goldsmith. It was for the launch of her thoughtfully curated collection of rare and iconic photography themed around Bruce Springsteen’s seminal Darkness On the Edge of Town, released in 1978. The album benchmarks the painstaking groundwork that continues to underscore The Boss’s unrivaled greatness more than a half-century onward.

Goldsmith’s exhibition features many images from her recently-released limited-edition, 364-page tome, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, available through luxury publishing house Taschen. The exhibition will be on display in the gallery until December 13th. On hand to support Goldsmith was actress, photographer, and Bruce’s younger sister, Pam Springsteen.

“Lynn’s book is filled with so many photos I am seeing for the first time,” Pam says. “She captured the raw energy of the shows and life during the making of Darkness On The Edge of Town. This is a treasured document of an important time, and to see these photos displayed in Morrison Hotel Gallery is a very special experience.”

Goldsmith’s Springsteen reception was presented in collaboration with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and William Heritage Winery.

In support of her book, Goldsmith will also be conducting a talk and signing at Fotografiska New York, the contemporary museum for photography, art, and culture, on December 4th. There, she will be interviewed by Pam Springsteen.

Goldsmith has documented over five decades of American culture, with subjects varying from music stars and entertainment personalities, to sports legends, film directors, and authors. Fifteen books of her photographs have been published, and her work has appeared on the covers as well as inside publications such as Time, Life Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Interview, The New Yorker, Elle, Paris Match, and Vogue Italia. Her photographs are housed in institutional collections including The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, The Museum of Modern Art, The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Photography, The Kodak Collection, and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The winner of numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement (PMDA) Photographer Award, The Lucie, The World Press Award in Portraiture, and The Lucien Clergue award, Goldsmith was also featured on The New York Times Best Sellers list for her book New Kids.
