The show will reunite Reba producers

Reba McEntire may be returning to the sitcom world in a new series at NBC. The Peacock network has ordered an untitled pilot that will reunite the multifaceted country superstar with showrunner Kevin Abbott. Abbott, who is set to write the script, was the showrunner for The WB/CW’s Reba for its final five seasons and her previous 18-episode ABC sitcom Malibu Country.

The potential series would see Reba inherit her father’s restaurant but is less thrilled once she discovers her new business partner is a half-sister she never knew she had.

Universal Television is producing the series with former Reba executive producers Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis returning in the same capacity alongside Julie Abbott.

It’s the first pilot NBC has ordered for the 2024 broadcast season following a delay due to the SAF-AFTRA and WGA strikes last summer.

Reba most recently appeared on CBS’ Young Sheldon in a recurring role and was cast as the season three guest star of ABC’s Big Sky.

The show extends Reba’s partnership with NBCUniversal after making her coaching debut on NBC’s The Voice during season 24. This spring, she’ll return for season 25 with John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay.
