NBC to air extended version of ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ with Taylor Swift

The special airs on October 10th on NBC

Taylor Swift’s recent October 6th appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will air as a special episode on Friday, October 10th, featuring an extended version of her interview with Jimmy Fallon. The episode will air at 11:35 pm ET/PT on NBC and stream the next day on Peacock.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Taylor Swift (Extended Cut) features additional moments from Swift’s sit-down with Fallon that were not previously aired, giving fans more from their lively and wide-ranging conversation earlier this week.

During the episode, Swift discussed her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, describing it as her “spiciest” and a joyous, romantic project about show business and living a public life.

She provided context for select songs from the album, including “Opalite,” “Father Figure,” and “Wood,” a humorous mention of the track’s inspiration relating to her fiancé, Travis Kelce.

Swift also revealed her tradition of listening to the entirety of her last album, The Tortured Poets Department, the night before releasing a new one to say “goodbye” to that musical era.

Swift spoke about her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, calling him her “favorite person I’ve ever met” and discussing the meaning of their engagement. She also detailed her engagement, mentioning that Kelce proposed after they shot a podcast where she announced the new album, and described the lengths he went to hide the backyard setup for the proposal.

Swift addressed the rumor that she turned down the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show due to a dispute over performance footage ownership, which she denied. She explained the true reason she wouldn’t do it right now is because of her focus on supporting Kelce in his sport. She humorously explained that she would be too “locked in” on the “dangerous” and “high-intensity” football game to worry about her choreography.

The Life of a Showgirl broke multiple major records, setting new milestones in sales and streaming upon its release last week. The album sold 1.2 million vinyl copies in its debut week in the US, surpassing the previous record holder of her album, The Tortured Poets Department, at 859,000 copies. It sold 2.7 million copies (physical and digital) in the U.S. on its first day of release, a feat that surpassed the entire first-week sales of her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, with 2.61 million equivalent album units.

The 2.7 million first-day sales made it the second-largest sales week for any album since Luminate began tracking data in 1991, trailing only Adele’s 25, which sold 3.378 million in its first week. The first-day sales volume instantly made it the best-selling album of the year.

Before its release, the album broke the record for the most pre-saves on Spotify, surpassing six million pre-saves and breaking the previous record held by The Tortured Poets Department. The album became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day for the year, reaching the milestone in under 11 hours. The lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” broke the record for the most-streamed song in a single day on Spotify, accumulating over 30 million streams.

The album became the most-streamed album of all time in its first day on Amazon Music. It also captured the year’s highest first-day album streams worldwide on Apple Music.

Swift’s self-directed, one-weekend-only Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl album-debut cinematic experience is officially the No. 1 title at the box office, both domestically and globally. The unprecedented success was driven by a three-day domestic box office of $34 million and an international box office of $16 million. Globally, the event earned more than $50 million for its one-weekend run.
