Nelson shares James Gunn-directed ‘To Get Back To You’ video

The song appears in the second season finale of HBO’s Peacemaker

Southern California hard rock band Nelson unleashes the first-ever official music video for “To Get Back To You,” shot and directed by none other than filmmaker and DC Studios Co-Chairman/Co-CEO James Gunn. Simultaneously, the single from the season two finale of HBO Max’s Peacemaker is available on streaming platforms.

HBO Max’s Peacemaker— created, written, produced, and directed by Gunn— features Nelson, going as far as to name its season two finale “Full Nelson” in honor of the band. Moreover, the guys play a pivotal role in the episode’s plotline. Stepping into the DC Extended Universe and rocking out, Nelson delivers a showstopping rendition of “To Get Back To You” during a concert with the title character, Peacemaker, played by John Cena, in the crowd. The episode is currently available to stream on HBO Max. Meanwhile, the official music video notably consists of footage from the latest season of Peacemaker as well as the duo’s emotionally charged performance.

“To Get Back To You” originally made waves for Nelson back in 2010. The heartfelt single appeared on the group’s acclaimed album, Lightning Strikes Twice. On its heels, they continued to evolve and engage audiences worldwide with the likes of Before The Rain in 2010 and Peace Out in 2015. Opening up like never before, the band unveils their self-penned autobiography entitled What Happened to Your Hair? on December 16th. Already ascending Amazon’s pre-order chart, it tells their whole story for the first time, pulling back the curtain on their upbringing and wild journey to global rock superstardom.

Gunnar and Matthew Nelson launched Nelson to stratospheric success 35 years ago with the release of their 1990 full-length debut album, After The Rain. The latter received a double platinum certification from the RIAA and logged over 60 weeks on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, it produced four Billboard Hot 100 hits, namely “After The Rain,” “More Than Ever,” “Only Time Will Tell,” and “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection.” Plus, all four tracks reached No. 1 on MTV. Launching and running their own Stone Canyon Record Label/UMe, they have captivated a diehard fan base with a prolific 19 full-length albums in total and more than 87.1 million (non-UGC) streams globally, with 50 million (non-UGC) in the US.
