Best-selling group continues critically-acclaimed Mixtape Tour
Currently on their most extensive cross-country supertour to date, multi-platinum selling pop group New Kids on the Block unveils the music video for their epic, throwback track “80s Baby,” gifting fans with the ultimate look behind-the-scenes of their 2019 The MixTape Tour, which Entertainment Weekly named one of the most anticipated concert tours of the summer. The video, created entirely with live footage from the massively successful tour, had its exclusive first look premiere on People.com Thursday (June 6th) morning. The video highlights the nostalgia filled track, as NKOTB bring the 80’s back to life both on and off the stage, giving viewers a backstage pass to the party that is The MixTape Tour.
With over 100 million combined records sold worldwide and over 575,000 tickets sold before the halfway point of the 55 show tour – the band’s most extensive tour since 2008 – NKOTB, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty by Nature, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson continue to wow audiences, filling sold-out arenas with 30+ years of hits as they take to the iconic cassette tape-shaped stage for a first of its kind show that features no opener, but instead features NKOTB and all acts as a non-stop mixtape filled with special moments and collaborations. With grosses already topping $47.5 million and counting, additional seats are being released as production allows.
Deemed one of ten 80’s acts to check out on tour this summer by Consequence of Sound, The MixTape Tour has been met with critical-acclaim by numerous press outlets. The San Jose Mercury News declares “one of the band’s best,” while the Memphis Commercial Appeal hails “when it comes to nostalgia trips, rarely are they as pure, pleasurable or unapologetic as the Mixtape Tour proved to be.” The Cleveland Plain Dealer has compared the show’s appeal to Beatlemania, stating that “it wasn’t as much a concert as it was a gift from the band to the girls who were 8 to 15 years old in the ’80s exactly what a Beatles concert would be for girls who were 8 to 15 in 1964.”
“80’s Baby,” featuring all tour acts, is one of the brand-new tracks recorded by the band for the 30th Anniversary Edition of their breakout album Hangin’ Tough – released on March 8th by Sony Music Entertainment.
The MixTape Tour, produced by Live Nation, continues tomorrow night in Denver, CO, stopping in Boston for back-to-back hometown shows on June 28th and 29th, before wrapping July 14th in Hollywood, FL.
