The holy grail of mainstream psychedelic rock posters, an original Skeleton and Roses Grateful Dead Poster from 1966, is up for auction at Goldin, a leading collectible marketplace. This rare and iconic piece has a grade of 9.8 from CGC, one of the finest conditions ever to appear at auction.

Considered to be “the pioneering godfathers of the jam band world,” the Grateful Dead are well-regarded for their eclectic style and are known for their devoted fan base of Deadheads. The Skeleton and Roses poster promoted the Grateful Dead’s performances at the Avalon Ballroom in September 1966 and the band also used the now-famous imagery for an official logo later on in their career. This poster was made through the collaborative efforts of two artists, Stanley “Mouse” Miller and Alton Kelley, who are known for producing posters for concerts and events in the psychedelic community in the 1960’s. With the final tour of the Dead and Company concluding earlier this month, Goldin expects wide interest in the poster and for it to sell for over $100,000.

An incredibly rare copy of Eminem’s rookie record is also up for sale. Before Eminem became the best-selling rapper in history, he was a 24-year-old white-rapper nobody selling his debut album Infinite out of his car trunk in Detroit. The press run of 500 vinyl records was put out by Web Entertainment’s Jeff and Mark Bass. Infinite was initially considered a commercial failure. A flop. There were limited sales to begin with, and then many of the surviving copies were discarded anyway. Presented in this auction is the finest known—and finest possible—example of Eminem’s rookie record. It’s factory sealed, it’s sourced from none other than Em’s long-time manager Paul Rosenberg, it’s autographed by Eminem himself in his alter-ego, “Shady,” and it’s slabbed by Audio Media Grading (AMG) as a high-grade Excellent (E) 8. A portion of the proceeds from this auction item will benefit the Marshall Mathers Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to providing assistance to disadvantaged and at-risk youth primarily in Detroit, Michigan and its surrounding communities.

The auction is currently open and the items will be available for bidding through September 13th.
