Hayley Williams is recovering from a lung infection

Paramore has canceled the final two dates of its US tour due to front woman Hayley Williams’ lung infection. Williams shared the news on social media today (Thurs, Aug 10th), stating their shows tonight in Portland, OR and Sunday, August 13th in Salt Lake City are scrapped.

“After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping a week off of performing and a strict medicine routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish off this tour strong,” she shares.

She continues, “I have been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancelations. After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with. my doctor, we’re unfortunately realizing that it’s past the point of wanting to push through to put on a good show for all of you. I’m now risking long term damage and I need to pay attention to my body. With that in mind and with a heavy heart, we have to cancel our remaining shows in both Portland and Salt Lake City.”

She adds, “I physically can not go on. I know this isn’t great news for anyone.”

Refunds will be available at the point of purchase.

The group’s next scheduled performance is set for October 6th as part of the New York festival before they embark to Australia and New Zealand for a short run of dates in November. Earlier this year, they embarked on a South American tour, joined Taylor Swift for two dates on The Eras Tour, and performed two sold out shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Next year, they’re set to support 14 European dates of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. Multiple dates are slated for each city for next summer.

The band is currently promoting its highly anticipated sixth studio album This Is Why, which was released in February to incredible support from fans and critics alike, topping charts in Australia and the UK. The immaculately crafted soundscape is the beloved trio’s first full length release since 2018, the title track earning the band their first No. 1 at US alternative radio and voted Hottest Record Of The Year by BBC Radio One listeners in the UK.
