The group shares its latest song via Warner Records
Kicking off a busy summer with more music, platinum-certified rising Texas-based country rock sextet Pecos & The Rooftops serve up a new single entitled “Rock Song,” available via Warner Records. This time around, the band’s soundtrack is moving on from a toxic relationship. Vulnerable verses teem with raw emotion as Pecos Hurley tries to numb the pain of a breakup the best way he knows how, “While I’m missing what I lost, grab that Gibson off the wall, and drink a few.” He cranks up the distortion on the chorus as he waves goodbye with a parting gift, “Baby, you can keep the rock song.” The frontman finally closes the door on this chapter while the guitars blaze.
“‘Rock Song’ is a late addition to the upcoming two-part album slated for release this year. It was written from a ‘screw you,’ sarcastic perspective about a guy that’s hit the end of the rope in his marriage and is content with going back and getting drunk by himself and his guitar—so much so that he doesn’t even want the ring back,” Hurley shares about the track. “But, if you listen closely, the song might not only simply be about divorce. There may or may not be a double meaning to a lot of the lines in the song. Regardless, it was a fun song to write with my friends, and it’s been a blast playing it at shows so far. Ladies and gentlemen, enjoy.”
“Rock Song” follows the recent anthem “11 Beers.” Continuing a prolific run for the group, other singles have included “Sweet Tumbleweed” and “Missing Peace.”
“Missing Peace” landed in the wake of “One Drunk Summer,” which notably marked the group’s first release since their self-titled debut album in 2023. It houses signature staples such as “5AM,” “Hurt No More,” “Last Thing I Remember,” “Bricks,” and “She Says.” It generated nearly a quarter-of-a-billion streams.
Right now, Pecos & The Rooftops are in the midst of a string of headline dates and festival appearances. They have been perfecting a signature heavy blend of lowdown country and classic rock since their inception, with the band living in a big five-bedroom house in Lubbock, Texas. Formed in 2019 by a tight- knit squad of college friends, the band outfits their soulful Americana with muscular guitar grit, yet remains tuneful and melodic. They’ve carved out a singular niche for themselves in the rich songwriting tradition of their home state, as evidenced by their debut Warner Records single “5AM,” which has amassed over 270 million global streams to date. Anchored by the heart-baring songwriting and booming voice of former Marine Pecos Hurley, the band is rounded out by top-tier players Jessie Santos on lead guitar, Steven Buehler on bass, Garrett Peltier on drums, and Jared French on guitars and keys.
Pecos & The Rooftops chose their name—a nod to the part of the house they’d hang out, drink beers, and jam on—just before self-releasing their debut single, 2019’s slow-burning “This Damn Song.” It was a runaway success, earning an RIAA platinum certification and going on to rack up over 500 million streams globally. Deciding to ride the wave for as long as they could, the band hit the road immediately after and haven’t stopped since, touring relentlessly on the club and festival circuit opening for the likes of country star Koe Wetzel. They released the Red Eye EP in 2020, expanding on their already solid sound with extra emphasis on guitar structures and complex yet melodic arrangements, hinting at jazz and psychedelic influences.
