The six-song collection is set for release on March 1st

Peytan Porter is set to deliver her new project Grown, a testament to her growth personally and musically, on March 1st. The gritty six-song EP, all co-penned by Porter, features an earthy sound coupled with thought-provoking, identity-exploring lyrics that won’t flinch from the places where she stands apart – whether that’s musically or against the backdrop of her traditional small-town upbringing.

“I’m not apologizing for or watering down the colors of who I am anymore,” Porter shares. “I’m getting in tune with a sound and style that’s all mine and stepping into being more transparent with the way I think and see the world and it really feels like I’m setting myself free. It’s definitely a coming of age for me.”

The silky slink of “God’s Hotel” co-written with Faren Rachels and Jeff Garrison offered a first glimpse of both the project’s sound and headspace, showcasing a weathered sunburst of Americana and a calm, collected theme of making room for oneself. Likewise, the title track “Grown” was written with Steve Moakler and Mark Trussell, is all about finding peace and pride in the lives we build, even when they’re not what we expected. Quiet yet resolute, it’s a sonic journal entry finding beauty in silver linings, with a delicate vocal to match. Others like “High Road” feature a swampy Delta-blues swagger, and find Porter deciding not to bite her tongue anymore. And the wistful “Speaking of Georgia” finds her looking back with genuine fondness, wondering what might have been. On “Run the Radio,” written alongside Greg Bates and Trent Dabbs, the track is equal parts nostalgia and pride, drawing listeners into Porter’s story with a magnetic pull of fuzzed-out guitars and self-confident vocals.

On the heels of quickly being picked up for airplay on SiriusXM The Highway’s “On The Horizon” program, Porter also premieres the music video for “Lemonade.” Directed by Natalie Sakstrup and shot with family and friends at the Georgia native’s hometown diner, watch Porter expose a few of the locals’ vices.

In a world obsessed with choosing sides and validating preconceptions, Porter has separated herself from the pack. A self-proclaimed small-town misfit from Dawsonville, GA, she’s breaking the molds of both polished commercial country music and the rootsy craft behind Americana, hooking listeners with vivid tunes that feel universal but raise interesting questions. Porter’s voice demands attention with an insightful stance as she signed her first deal in 2021 as a joint venture with Jody Williams Songs and Warner Chappell Music. Fresh off the heels of her acclaimed debut project In My Head, earning ten million streams across streaming platforms, Porter has also garnered a loyal and substantial following in recent years, with 330k followers across all platforms and 50 million views on TikTok. The emerging artist has already earned several accolades including being a TikTok “Songwriter of the Year” Nominee at the 2022 iHeart Radio Awards and was named a CMT’s “Next Up Now Artist.” She has also served as direct support for Elle King and performed at CMA Fest in 2022 and 2023 and has opened for Willie Nelson, Jon Pardi, Larry Fleet, Brett Eldredge, Eli Young Band and more. She is set to perform at the Tortuga Music Festival on April 5th, Gulf Coast Jam on May 30th, and open for Tim McGraw in June.
