The set makes its color vinyl debut
To celebrate Phil Collins’ 75th birthday, a special limited edition color vinyl version of The Singles will be released on January 30th via Rhino Records. This career-spanning compilation, originally issued in 2018 on CD and digitally, features many of his biggest hits, including “In the Air Tonight.” This will be the first time the project appears on color vinyl.
The Singles was released on October 14, 2016, to cap off Collins’ major Take a Look at Me Now retrospective campaign. This campaign involved reissuing and remastering all of his solo studio albums.
Almost all of the tracks were newly remastered by Nick Davis, bringing a fresh sound to the classics. Crucially, the collection included several hit singles that were not originally on his studio albums, such as “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” from the 1984 film of the same name, “Easy Lover” with Earth, Wind & Fire’s Philip Bailey from Bailey’s 1984 solo album Chinese Wall, “Separate Lives” with Marilyn Martin from the film 1985 White Nights, and “A Groovy Kind of Love” and “Two Hearts,” both from the 1988 film Buster.
The Singles includes seven U.S. solo chart-toppers, including “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now),” “One More Night,” “Separate Lives,” “A Groovy Kind of Love,” “Two Hearts,” and “Another Day in Paradise,” among others.
The set peaked at No. 2 in the UK, marking a high position for a compilation album released 35 years into his solo career.
