Song drops in Sept

Queen is planning to drop an unreleased song with Freddie Mercury on vocals this fall called “Face It Alone.” Founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor revealed the news during an interview with BCC Radio 2 for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee concert over the weekend.

“We did find a little gem from Freddie, that we’d kind of forgotten about and it was — It’s wonderful. Actually, it was real discovery. It’s from The Miracle sessions, and I think it’s going to be out in September,” Taylor tells host Zoe Ball.

“It was kind of hiding in plain sight,” May adds. “We looked at it many times and thought, Oh, no, we can’t really rescue that. But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, okay, we can do this and this. It’s like kind of stitching bits together. But it’s beautiful, it’s touching.”

Queen recorded 30 songs for the band’s 13th studio album in 1989, The Miracle. Some tracks were used as B-sides and bonus tracks.

The group last released a Freddie Mercury-fronted vocal on the group’s 2014 compilation, Queen Forever, that was a duet with Michael Jackson.

Queen’s The Platinum Collection, featuring all three of their Greatest Hits albums, is coming to vinyl for the first time ever this summer. EMI will release the set as a limited edition 6 LP colored vinyl set on June 17th in a slipcase with new artwork. Each vinyl will be a different color and be housed in its own individually designed sleeve. The set also comes with an exclusive 24 page 12-inch photo booklet.
