Ray Stevens undergoes surgery after suffering heart attack

Stevens was admitted into a Nashville hospital last week

Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Stevens is in recovery after undergoing minimally invasive heart surgery yesterday morning (Mon, July 7th). Last Friday evening, Stevens complained of chest pain and was admitted to a Nashville hospital. After a heart catheterization procedure, it was determined he’d suffered a mild heart attack.

Stevens’ initial surgery was successful, but performances at his West Nashville-based CabaRay Showroom are canceled through July as he recovers.

Twelve-time nominated and two-time Grammy Award winner Ray Stevens has spanned the generations with over 60 years of comedic musical talent, including songs such as his multi-million-selling hit “The Streak” and his classic pop standard “Everything Is Beautiful.” Throughout his career, Stevens has sold over 40 million albums, amassing millions of fans worldwide. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame, and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, and has a star on the Music City Walk of Fame.
