Rihanna voices Smurfette in new ‘Smurfs’ film

A soundtrack will feature Desi Trill, DJ Khaled, Cardi B & others

Robyn Rihanna Fenty will voice Smurfette in the new Smurfs film in theaters on July 8th via Paramount Animation.

When Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe. Smurfs features an all-star voice cast including Rihanna, James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.

The film was written by Pam Brady, directed by Chris Miller, and based on characters and the works of Peyo.

Fenty serves as a producer alongside Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris.

Universal Studios will release the soundtrack featuring the first single, “Higher Love,” by Desi Trill with DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Natania, and Subhi. The single can be pre-saved at all digital outlets. Further soundtrack details, including its release date, are forthcoming.
