Rita Wilson shares ‘WOW (Wild Ol’ Woman)’

The empowering new single drops ahead of her CMA Fest appearances

Rita Wilson has shared her new single, “W.O.W. (Wild Ol’ Woman).” The galvanizing anthem was co-written by Rita and acclaimed artist Upsahl and, produced by Seth Alley (Nate Smith, Matt Stell), Peter “PeterFeelGood” Eddins (Drake, Aaron Dessner) and Rita.

“W.O.W (Wild Ol’ Woman)” is a rousing departure for Rita, who has won over fans with her signature delicate, introspective fare. “W.O.W.” takes hold with an undeniable swagger, showcasing Rita’s impassioned vocals set against driving guitar and a front-and-center rhythm section. The country/rock influenced track tackles themes of pushing boundaries, unapologetic risk-taking, and breaking free of societal expectations, no matter the age from a bold female perspective. Rita sings, “She’s a lightning bolt, striking at your back, the whole world’s watching, she should come with a warning. You ain’t seen nothing like a wild ol’ woman.”

On the inspiration for “W.O.W.” Rita explains, “I am in awe of women when they decide to get things done – whatever that may be- they’re just ‘WOW.’ The idea just kept coming back to me that the older we get, the more ‘WOW’ we become. The better parts of us emerge, and when women reach that point, they become unstoppable. I was hesitant to tell my co-writer Upsahl the idea because I felt it was specific to me being NOT twenty-five. But she was emphatic about being any age and feeling like a wild ol’ woman. There is freedom in using your life’s experience.”

In conjunction with the new single, Rita is making the rounds in Nashville for a string of live shows. On June 5th, she performed at the FEMCountry showcase series, alongside stellar artists including Abbey Cone, Brittney Spencer, Caylee Hammack and Lucie Silvas. This weekend she makes her return to the iconic CMA Fest, performing at Nissan Stadium tonight (Fri, June 6th) and on the Chevy Vibes Stage tomorrow (Sat, June 7th). A loyal country music fan, Rita also had the honor of appearing at this year’s ACM Awards ceremony, where she introduced the all-star performance of Reba McEntire, Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert.

A beloved actress who has starred in over dozens of feature films and hit TV shows, Rita will soon be seen in the new Netflix Lena Dunham series, Too Much, premiering in July.
