Ryan Hurd shares ‘This Party Sucks’

The song is the first since signing with Big Machine

Award-winning singer/songwriter Ryan Hurd is on a mission to head for the door as fast as possible in his new song “This Party Sucks,” out now via Big Machine Records. Hurd’s first official release since signing with the label, “This Party Sucks,” was written by Hurd alongside Brinley Addington, Ryan Beaver, and David Garcia after frustratingly having to leave a conversation with Paul McCartney to go to a party. The song details his disdain for the often-insincere nature of surface-level party talk drowned in champagne.

“This Party Sucks! It’s fun, tongue in cheek, not too serious. It’s an anti-party party anthem,” shares Hurd. “I hope everyone likes it enough to actually play it at a party.”

The official music video for the track finds Hurd in his black tie best at a high-class party. Quickly deciding to ditch the cocktail attire and expensive champagne for a t-shirt, flannel, jeans, and a beer, he hits up a local dive bar for a performance under the lights of a cheap, sparkly backdrop and shiny disco ball.

An undeniable earworm, the song features Rock-tinged production and standout instrumentation that perfectly complements Hurd’s refreshingly honest and relatable lyrics. The song release comes from Monday’s announcement that Hurd has signed with Big Machine Records and his independently released tracks “Midwest Rock & Roll” and “Go To Bed Sober” from earlier this year. A full-length project via Big Machine Records is expected in 2025.
