Pop’s next It-Girl has the song of the summer
Pop’s rising it-girl Sofia Camara releases her new single “Girls Like You” via 21 Entertainment and Universal Music Canada with international support from Mercury Records in the US and Polydor Records in the UK. The audio arrives alongside a new lyric video, and an official visualizer is coming soon.
“This song is about emotional muscle memory,” explains Camara. “Falling back into old patterns despite warnings and hard-earned lessons. It’s a deeply human experience: the conflict between what we know is best for us, versus what we feel in the moment. It reminds me that even though I’ve loved and lost, there’s something so beautiful about a little bit of danger and the unknown – especially when it feels so familiar, like love. It’s been so exciting to create this song, and I’ve truly enjoyed the process of making music that makes me want to sing and dance like no one is watching. It makes me feel like falling in love and reminds me of the feeling right before you start to fall.”
“Girls Like You” – co-written with and produced by Mike Wise, Nathan Ferraro, Lowell, and Donny Bravo – marks the latest collaboration between Sofia Camara and the award-winning team that co-penned her hit track “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)” last year. Lowell won the 2025 JUNO Award for Songwriter of the Year (Non-Performing) and together with Nathan Ferraro, she co-wrote the chart-topping, Grammy-nominated hit “Texas Hold ‘Em” with Beyoncé.
With this new single, Camara temporarily moves away from her heart-wrenching ballads with an up-tempo song of the summer contender. She first previewed “Girls Like You” across sold-out arenas supporting Dean Lewis in Europe and the UK, with fans embracing this sound from the 23-year-old emerging star.
Camara followed her breakthrough success of 2024 with even more highlights in 2025, releasing “With You” – her duet with Dean Lewis – to celebrate their success together on tour. She recently announced her first-ever headline tour across Europe and the UK, heading out on the Healing Hearts Tour in October. Tickets sold-out quickly across most cities, marking the incredible demand for Camara’s live show. Venues have now been upgraded in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Copenhagen, and more. Before she heads overseas, Camara is set to make her festival debuts at Osheaga in Montréal and Lollapalooza in Chicago.
In March, Camara released her debut EP Was I(t) Worth It? including the hits “Starlight” and “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent).” The latter has been streamed over 44 million times across platforms.
Last year, Camara kicked off her momentum with performances of the national anthem at the CFL’s 111th Grey Cup and her recorded cover of Nickelback’s “What Are You Waiting For?” at the IIHF World Juniors. She supported Alex Warren across Europe on tour, and Shawn Desman on his Canadian tour.
