Proceeds from the single will be donated to Farm Aid
Former Journey frontman Steve Perry has released an reimagined version of the band’s classic “Faithfully” with country legend Willie Nelson via Dark Horse Records. The new version coincides with the 40th anniversary of Farm Aid, with proceeds from the single to benefit the nonprofit organization that Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews founded in response to the growing crisis faced by American family farmers during the 1980s.
Recorded at Ronnie’s Place in Nashville, and at Perry’s studio, Love Box, the track was produced by Kent Wells and Perry, engineered by Joel McKenne, Kyle Dickinson, and Perry. Musicians include Mike Rojas on piano, James Mitchell on electric guitar, Kent Wells on acoustic guitar, Scott Sanders on steel guitar, Steve Mackey on bass, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, and Nir Z on drums.
“No one has a voice or vocal phrasing anything like Willie Nelson,” Perry shares about the reimagined track. “Singing this duet with Willie has been something I’ve always wanted to do. After recording ‘Faithfully’ with Journey, I always felt it would be a great song for Willie too. What a wonderful experience it was to finally sing with Willie. I’m so proud of what we have accomplished together.”

“Faithfully” was the second single from Journey’s 1983 album, Frontiers, reaching No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the US Adult Contemporary chart. The song marked the second consecutive top 20 single from the project. Frontiers was a massive commercial success, selling over ten million copies in the United States alone, achieving six-time platinum certification.
