Three concerts were planned this weekend
Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna, Austria have been canceled this weekend due to a planned terrorist attack. Swift was set to perform at Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but producers Barracuda Music decided to cancel The Eras Tour shows after government officials confirmed the news.
“With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernest Happel Stadium,” a statement reads. “We have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.”
All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next ten business days.
A 19-year-old Austrian suspect was arrested on Wednesday morning after allegedly pledging allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State at the beginning of July, according to Franz Ruf, director-general for public safety in the Ministry of the Interior. A second suspect was arrested in the afternoon, both radicalizing themselves online, according to ABC News.
The Swift concerts were the focus of the planned attack. Before the shows were canceled, Ruf said security at the concerts would be increased as more than 65,000 concertgoers were expected each day.
