The Weeknd becomes top-grossing male black artist ever at MetLife Stadium

The global pop star sold out three shows over the weekend

Global music phenomenon The Weeknd has officially cemented his place in music history, becoming the top-grossing male black artist ever at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This milestone comes after a record-breaking weekend of three completely sold-out shows, drawing over 163,000 fans.

The monumental performances took place during the same weekend as the popular Governors Ball Music Festival, with The Weeknd alone selling over 40,000 more tickets than the entire festival.

As part of his tour, The Weeknd has partnered with Global Citizen to help drive positive change around the world. $1 from every ticket sold will be donated to support children from vulnerable communities globally. Fans will also have the opportunity to earn a pair of free tickets to each tour date by taking action to end extreme poverty with Global Citizen.

The Weeknd is on tour in support of his latest album, Hurry Up Tomorrow and its accompanied film of the same name. The 2025 After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour will see the pop star perform 43 stadium shows before it warps on September 3rd in San Antonio. Many of the stops will see two shows, due to demand, with the exception of MetLife Stadium that saw three shows and Los Angeles, where he headlines four shows at SoFi Stadium later this month.

The film, released by Lionsgate last month, is directed by Trey Edward Shultz and stars Abel Tesfaye, Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, with original music by The Weeknd and Daniel Lopatin. XO/Republic Records released the album in January, which became the No. 1 biggest album debut of 2025 in the U.S., with over three billion global streams to date. The global Top 10 hit “Timeless” recently became his highest-debuting single ever on the Billboard Hot 100.
