The event will run concurrently with the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show
Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) has announced that it will host its own counter-programming event called The All-American Halftime Show to run concurrently with the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, which will be headlined by Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny in February 2026.
This decision comes amid backlash from some conservative figures and MAGA supporters who have criticized the NFL’s selection of Bad Bunny due to his Spanish-language music, political views (including past criticism of Donald Trump), and gender-fluid fashion.
The show is intended to be a counter-show, celebrating “faith, family and freedom,” and appealing to those who disapprove of the NFL’s choice.
As of the announcement, no performers or specific event details have been confirmed.
TPUSA’s announcement on X included a form asking supporters for their preferred music genres, with one notable option being “anything in English,” a clear dig at Bad Bunny, who primarily performs in Spanish. Bad Bunny’s most notable line during his Saturday Night Live monologue—which he hosted shortly after the announcement of his 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance—was a direct, humorous jab at his critics.
After speaking about the Super Bowl announcement in English, he switched to Spanish to share an emotional message with the Latino community.
That translates to, “Especially all the Latinos and Latinas in the world and here in the United States, all those people who have worked to open doors. It’s more than an achievement for me, it’s an achievement for all of us. Our footprint and our contribution to this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”
He then switched back to English to deliver the punchline to his critics, “And if you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”
High-profile conservatives, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and, to a lesser extent, Donald Trump, have voiced disapproval of Bad Bunny’s selection, with Johnson suggesting Lee Greenwood (known for “God Bless the U.S.A.”) would be a more suitable performer. The idea for an alternative show was initially floated by conservative commentator Jack Posobiec, who suggested the rock band Creed.
