The rappers achieve the highest first-week sales debut

New Orleans duo $uicideboy$ achieved their highest first-week sales debut with their fourth full-length album, New World Depression. This week, the album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Independent Album Chart, No. 2 on the Hip-Hop Album Chart, and No. 5 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart behind Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Don Toliver and Morgan Wallen. It marks their fourth consecutive studio album to debut in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, following their 2022 album Sing Me a Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation, which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200.

The duo’s raw, unfiltered lyrics on the 13-track release narrate the struggle for authenticity in a world that often feels cold and indifferent. An unapologetic exploration of life’s darker sides, resonating with those who’ve felt out of place or battled inner demons. The lead single from New World Depression, titled “Us Vs Them,” earned the group their first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 Song Chart. The song navigates themes of fame, self-destruction, and the relentless search for identity. It has now gained over 50 million streams on Spotify.

This week, $uicideboy$ joined Theo Von for a rare interview on his popular podcast, This Past Weekend. Theo introduced them as “the most requested guests of all time” on the show. Ruby Da Cherry and $crim discussed the history of $uicideboy$, their hometown of New Orleans, getting sober, evolving as artists, and cultivating a massive yet close-knit fanbase.

In 2023, $uicideboy$ landed on Billboard’s Top Grossing Hip-Hop Touring Artists of All-Time and was one of Spotify’s Top Groups of 2023 and SoundCloud’s Top 5 Most Streamed Artists. This Summer, the rap cousins will embark on Grey Day 2024, an arena tour across North America with support from Denzel Curry, Pouya, Shakewell, Haarper, and Ekkstacy.
