UPHE upgrades ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ to 4K

The Loretta Lynn biopic comes to 4K UHD this summer

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release Coal Miner’s Daughter on 4K UHD on September 9th.

Nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and based on the best-selling autobiography, the film is the amazing true story of the legendary country star, Loretta Lynn. In the acclaimed performance that earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress, Sissy Spacek stars as the poor Appalachian Mountains mother who rose from humble beginnings to become the “Queen of Country Music.” Co-starring Tommy Lee Jones as her ambitious husband who recognizes her talent and prods her into making a record, Coal Miner’s Daughter is a remarkable tale of a woman’s triumph in making her name in the world.

The package includes the film in 4K UHD and Blu-ray with a code to redeem a digital copy. It’s presented in Dolby Vision and HDR10 for brighter, deeper, more lifelike color. Audio will be in English Dolby Atmos and English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.

Bonus features include “Tommy Lee Jones Remembers Coal Miner’s Daughter,” an interview with Loretta Lynn and Director Michael Apted, “President George Bush Sr. Salutes AFI and Coal Miner’s Daughter,” and feature commentary with Sissy Spacek and Director Michael Apted.

The 1980 film is rated PG and has a running time of 125 minutes.
