Neil was performing with his solo band

Vince Neil was forced to cut a performance short with his solo band on Saturday (Sept 23rd) at the Oklahoma State Fair in Oklahoma City due to a shooting that occurred in the parking lot. Neil shared the news on his social media platforms on Sunday.

“At a concert in Oklahoma City Crazy night last night. 3/4 of the way thru the set people started running. We we’re told to get in dressing room. There were shooters shooting people. Thank you fans for your understanding,” he writes on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Thankfully we are all okay! Thanks to everyone who came out. Please stay safe!”

News 9 reports that one person was shot and two people, including one juvenile, were taken into custody after an altercation occurred at the Bennett Event Center between two groups. The shooting, which was deemed an “isolated incident,” happened shortly before 9 pm, an hour after Neil took the stage.

“It’s very early on in the investigation, and we’re still trying to determine what happened,” Oklahoma City Police Capt. Valerie Littlejohn says.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The incident caused a mass evacuation of the fairgrounds which caused an unknown number of additional injuries.

KFOR-TV says an investigation is underway on how someone got a gun past security.

“We work very closely with the Oklahoma City Police Officers and we also have the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office out here as well as our own off-duty officers that are under our control. We really take safety and security as priority number one. We have scanners at the gates which turn away a lot of weapons. Which, you’d be surprised how many people think that they can walk through a scanner with a weapon and they can’t. It’ll sound off so we’re reviewing the tapes to try and figure out how this individual, how there was a breach of this individual being able to bring a gun onto the property,” fair spokesperson Scott Munz tells the station.

The fair finished its run on Sunday with a curfew in order for minors.
