Vince Neil’s plane involved in fatal airport accident

Neil was not on board the plane

Vince Neil’s private plane has been involved in a fatal accident at the Scottsdale Municipal Airport. The Mötley Crüe frontman’s Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and crashing into a Gulfstream 200 business jet on the ramp at Scottsdale Municipal Airport in Arizona around 2:45 p.m. local time Monday, February 10th, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Four people were on board the Learjet and one person on board the Gulfstream. One person is dead while four others are injured.

“I can tell you we have five souls, one DOA, two immediate [critical condition patients] that have been transported to local trauma centers. One delayed [non-life threatening injuries] stable to a local hospital. This is still an active scene. We are still working on extricating one soul out of one of the airplanes,” Scottsdale Fire Captain Dave Folio says in a news conference. “This is still an active scene under investigation.”

The FAA has temporarily paused all flights into the airport. The FAA and NTSB will investigate with the NTSB leading.

The Music Universe has confirmed that the Learjet, with tail number N81VN, is registered to the Franklin, Tennessee-based Chromed in Hollywood, Inc., an organization that names Neil as its President/Director.

Attempts to reach Mr. Neil’s representatives were unsuccessful. However, it’s been confirmed Neil was not on the plane, but his girlfriend, her friend, and two dogs were. All survived but were hospitalized.

“For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runaway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane,” a letter from his lawyers reads. “More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation. Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”

Mötley Crüe confirms the pilot died in the crash and is working towards supporting his family.

“Earlier today a private plane owned by Vince Neil was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, AZ. The pilot was tragically killed; the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to local hospitals. Vince was not on the plane. Vince’s girlfriend and her friend suffered injuries, albeit not life-threatening. While details are still emerging, our hearts go out to the families of both the pilot who lost his life and the passengers who suffered injuries,” the band shares. “Mötley Crüe will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot – stand by for an announcement very soon.”

The incident is the latest in a string of aviation crashes that have impacted the US in recent weeks. The most notable occurred late last month when a passenger jet collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter while landing in Washington, DC, killing all 67 on board the two aircrafts.
