The album will drop in January 2026
Hip-hop/R&B-inspired girl group XG has announced that their long-awaited first full-length album, set to release on January 23rd, will be titled The Core – 核, via XGALX.
On October 30th, a single image displaying only the kanji character “核” (core/nucleus) was posted to XG’s social media accounts, sparking widespread speculation and excitement among fans about its meaning. The following day, the group announced that their upcoming world tour would be titled XG World Tour: The Core, prompting many to interpret “核” and “CORE” as synonymous concepts.
On August 30th, during their appearance at Japan’s largest summer festival, A-Nation, XG revealed plans to release their first full album on January 23rd. Its lead digital single “Gala” dropped in September. Since then, there had been no new updates about the album until the long-awaited title reveal.
The Core – 核, XG’s first-ever full-length album, is a declaration that captures the group’s deepest essence. Going beyond trends and embellishment, the album focuses on the root of their music and existence. It weaves a journey that transcends genres, eras, and spaces. Yet, at the heart of all this transformation is the unwavering identity and energy that defines XG. The title stands as a statement of X-pop, a new genre forged by XG themselves.
Guided by the belief that “great music holds value in and of itself,” this album represents a truly musical journey that transcends time and space. It is the most honest reflection of who XG is right now, and a powerful starting point toward a future of boundless possibility.
The tracklist has not yet been revealed. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for more updates about the songs and additional details.
In tandem, leader Jurin will make her solo debut as Jurin Asaya, releasing her debut single “PS118” featuring North Carolina rapper Rapsody on November 18th via XGALX. Over a track that carries the roots of old-school hip-hop, the two artists’ passion and energy intertwine like a nebula, creating a powerful resonance that transcends generations and borders.
