Their new mini album lands at No. 1

Hip-hop/R&B-inspired girl group XG released their 1st Mini Album “NEW DNA” on September 27th. The album has since achieved the girls’ first-ever top position on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums, dated October 4th. Additionally, the track “New Dance” from the album has ranked in the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks.

XG’s new project is a bold declaration of XG being a “new species” free from conventions. It serves as both the prologue to XG and a core XG album The album is available in two versions, “X Ver.” and “G Ver.,” released as a CD box.

New DNA has also reached the top position on Billboard Japan’s Download Albums chart and the latest Oricon Weekly Digital Album chart, the latter dated October 9th. It has also made an impressive mark on global rankings, placing on Apple’s Top 200 chart in 57 countries and regions, reaching as high as second place on Apple’s Global Music Album chart. Additionally, the album has charted on the iTunes Album Chart in 18 countries and regions and achieved the highest position on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart. The music video for the lead track “Puppet Show,” released on YouTube, has also entered the YouTube Trending Charts in 18 countries and regions, XG has gone truly global.

XG’s mini-album includes tracks such as “Grl Gvng,” which became the first-ever No. 1 ranking for a Japanese artist in the US Billboard Chart Hot Trending Songs Powered by X, along with other viral tracks like “TGIF,” “New Dance,” and “Puppet Show.”
