Group will perform celebration concert

BTS has officially been appointed World Expo 2030 Busan ambassadors. The appointment ceremony was held at Hybe headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul, today (Tues, July 19th).

During the appointment ceremony, BTS received the plaques for their official appointment as ambassadors for World Expo 2030 Busan. The event was attended by Prime Minister Han Duk-soo and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Chairman Chey Tae-won, who are the co-chairs of the Bid Committee, as well as Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heong-joon, Hybe CEO Jiwon Park, and more.

To fulfill their responsibilities as ambassadors, BTS will participate in various promotional activities including holding the Global Busan Concert in October in efforts to bring the World Expo 2030 to Busan.

“We are honored to be appointed as ambassadors for World Expo 2030 Busan,” RM shares. “BTS will do our best to support in bringing the World Expo 2030 to Busan. Starting with the Global Busan Concert in October, we will carry out various ambassador activities.” He added, “We will also make extra efforts to not only support the nation’s bid, but also promote the beautiful nature and culture of the Republic of Korea worldwide.”

“I want to express my gratitude to BTS, the beloved global stars who have gladly accepted the ambassadorship for World Expo 2030 Busan,” adds Prime Minister Han Duk-soo. “The most essential part to our success would be the support from Korean citizens as well as the global community. We believe that BTS will take the most pivotal role during the process. With the support from BTS and our people, we will be able to achieve our goal.”

BTS will also be the subject of two specials streaming on Disney+ in a new partnership the Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific and Hybe have signed. BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA is an exclusive cinematic 4K concert film features BTS’ live performance in Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium in November 2021. BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star is an original docu-series that follows the incredible journey of the K-pop superstars with unprecedented access to a vast library of music and footage.

In June, the group released Proof, a three disc anthology album that celebrates the nine years of BTS’ journey since their debut, and opens a new chapter upon their tenth year as artists. The project, available in multiple configurations, contains new tracks, members’ selections, demo versions, unreleased tracks and more.

Its members also announced they would pursue solo projects while “remaining active as a group.” On June 14th, the superstars released a new BTS Dinner Party video to celebrate their ninth anniversary when Suga commented the band was going on “hiatus,” causing a frenzy on social media and sending Hybe’s stock plummeting by $1.7 billion overnight. The next day, Big Hit Entertainment, clarified that the statement was mistranslated into English when subtitled in the video.

Last week saw the first solo release with J-Hope’s Jack in the Box. The album is comprised of ten tracks with “More” and “Arson” acting as the album’s two main tracks.
