Fans can begin voting for the Social Categories as early as this weekend

MTV has added four new social categories to the 2023 Video Music Awards — Show of the Summer, Group of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Album of the Year. Voting will be staggered, starting this Sunday, September 3rd with Show of the Summer. Group of the year follows on Monday, September 4th. Song of Summer presented by M&M’s launches on September 7th followed by Album of the Year on September 11th. All voting will begin at 11 am ET via MTV’s Instagram Story.

With the addition of these all-new categories, Taylor Swift still leads the nominations with 11, followed by Sza with eight, Blackpink, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo with six, Kim Petras and Sam Smith with five each, Beyoncé, Diddy, Drake, Ice Spice, Karol G, Metro Boomin, Shakira and Tomorrow X Together with four apiece.

Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including the highly-coveted Video of the Year, presented by Burger King, by visiting vote.mtv.com through Friday, September 1st. Voting for Best New Artist will remain active into the show on Tuesday, September 12th.

The 2023 Video Music Awards (VMAs) will air live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday, September 12th at 8 pm ET/PT.

Demi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin, Stray Kids, Lil Wayne, Anitta, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini, and Tomorrow X Together are among the performers announced.
