August 31st becomes the high advanced sales revenue day in AMC’s 103-year history

AMC Theatres has announced that Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert film is now officially a record-breaking movie. The film, which was announced with tickets on sale Thursday morning, August 31st, shattered records for single-day advance ticket sales revenue at AMC.

Thursday’s ticket sales represented $26 million in ticket sales revenue, a new record for ticket sales for a single title on one day at AMC. The previous record of $16.9 million was held by Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Swift’s film broke the record in under three hours.

Recognizing this unprecedented demand, AMC is adding additional showtimes to increase capacity where necessary and available. During its run at AMC, Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert film will play at least four showtimes per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, at every AMC theatre location in the United States.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert film will be available in IMAX at AMC and Dolby Cinema at AMC, and at AMC’s other branded premium large format screens for their standard upcharges.

The film clocks in at two hours and forty-five minutes, which is less than the three-and-a-half-hour in-person show. Variety confirms all 40+ songs will be included from the first three nights of her six-night sold out SoFi Stadium run in Los Angeles earlier this month, along with “Surprise Songs.”

The 53-date North American leg of the tour was attended by more than three million Taylor Swift fans. Not only did it shatter all concert sales records, but it also left tens of millions of adoring fans wanting more, either because they attended the concert and wanted to see it again, or after being unable to obtain tickets for sold out performance after sold out performance.

The trek is nearing the $1 billion mark in gross sales, which would make Swift the highest-grossing female artist and The Eras Tour the largest-ever grossing tour in US history. It’s projected to gross more than $2 billion by the end of its international run.

Fans in North America have a second chance to catch the trek next fall when The Eras Tour returns for 14 shows for a second US and Canadian leg in 2024. Swift will perform three shows each in Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis with six performances set for Toronto in October and November of next year. Gracie Abrams will support all dates.

Swift is currently global as she takes The Eras Tour to Mexico, South America, Latin America, Asia and Europe through summer 2024.
