The event was slated for Labor Day weekend in New Orleans
The second annual Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff has been canceled abruptly, according to Fox 8 New Orleans. Eric Church, Thomas Rhett, Jon Pardi, and Ashley McBryde were set to headline the event on August 31st in New Orleans.
A brief statement on the Ticketmaster listing reads, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event.”

Last year’s inaugural Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff featured a legendary performance by superstar Garth Brooks, a memorable show by Louisiana’s own Lainey Wilson, and an outstanding Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert.
The Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff was created to launch the college football season. As with last year’s event, it was to be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and was “sure to be one of the most-anticipated country music events of the year as it continues to establish itself as a must-see highlight of Labor Day weekend in New Orleans.”
Announced in April, festivities were to kick off on August 31st at Champions Square with NewOrleans.com Tailgate Town, a football-themed interactive experience presented by New Orleans & Company. Proceeds from the event were to go toward assisting the Allstate Sugar Bowl in its support of numerous community programs, including youth events, scholarship programs, and teacher recruitment, recognition, and retention.
It’s unclear if the event will return in 2025.
This is the second country-themed festival to be canceled during Labor Day Weekend. In June, producers pulled the plug on the inaugural Kick-Off Country Jam featuring Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, and Alabama. The three-day event was slated for for Panama City Beach, Florida.
