Song is latest from fifth studio album

5 Seconds of Summer have dropped their latest single, “Older,” a surprising shift from the band’s signature pop-rock sound to a soft, tender love ballad. The track was produced by Michael Clifford and co-written by Michael Pollack, and features vocals and a co-writing credit from lead singer Luke Hemmings’ fiancée, Sierra Deaton, which sees the couple perform together on a song for the very first time.

The single arrives ahead of their highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5SOS5, which arrives September 23rd, and will be released independently via BMG. The deluxe CD and digital versions of the album will have 19 tracks with standard CD, cassette and vinyl formats also available.

The album will showcase the band’s multi-faceted artistry and growth over their ten year career, highlighting their dynamic sound, accompanied by reflective and intimate lyrics. With the majority of the new album written by the band and Michael leading on production. 5SOS5 includes the new single plus their previously released tracks “Take My Hand” and “Complete Mess,” along with 16 new songs.

On the eve of their new album, 5 Seconds of Summer will perform an exclusive global livestream The Feeling of Falling Upwards from the world famous Royal Albert Hall in London on Thursday, September 22nd. To commemorate the release, the band will perform a set of reimagined versions of songs from their 11 year catalogue plus new songs off the new album, accompanied by an orchestra and choir.

This will be the first time the band have played at the iconic venue but amazingly a special full circle moment, being also only steps away from where the band busked when they first arrived in the UK nearly 10 years ago.

Produced by Driift, the fully-live performance will be streamed worldwide at 8.30 pm London-time (BST). The show will then be rebroadcast three times so fans around the world can watch at a more convenient time. Following that, the show will be available to watch On Demand for another three days.
