Trace Adkins celebrates ‘Songs About Me’ 20th anniversary, receives Pandora Billionaire plaque

The country star performed a SiriusXM session and interview

Trace Adkins is celebrating the 20th birthday of his double platinum sixth album— Songs About Me —in style. He just visited SiriusXM in Nashville where he appeared on Y2Kountry for a very special session and interview with host Danielle Peck. Cheered on by a crowd of lucky fans, he not only delivered knockout renditions of classics from Songs About Me like the signature “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” that he introduced as “the most played song in strip club history,” and emotional “Arlington,” but he also performed his latest single “What Color’s Your Wild.”

Capping off this unforgettable appearance, SiriusXM and Pandora’s Johnny Chiang, Vice President of Music Programming – Country at SiriusXM and Pandora, surprised Adkins with a Billionaire plaque in recognition of over one billion streams (1.7 billion to be exact) for his music on Pandora. He enters elite company among only a handful of artists to reach this milestone, including greats such as Jason Aldean, Chris Stapleton, Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, Ed Sheeran, and more.

“The incredible thing about Trace and his career is the consistency. Whether he has new music or not, Pandora fans are screaming for Trace,” shares Chiang during the milestone presentation.

The event will air on SiriusXM’s Y2Kountry (Channel 57) starting today (Fri, April 4th) with replays throughout the weekend. It will also be on the SiriusXM app for two weeks.

Adkins originally unveiled Songs About Me on March 22, 2005. It bowed at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top Country Albums Chart in addition to picking up a double platinum certification from the RIAA. Of course, it houses the triple platinum anthem “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” gold-certified “Songs About Me,” and “Arlington.” Speaking to its enduring impact, the record has amassed hundreds of millions of streams.

Last week, he dropped the song “That Someday” via Verge Records to accompany his role as Big Buck in the new action film, Day of Reckoning, in theaters now. Adkins personally penned the song with frequent collaborator and co-writer Casey Beathard (Eric Church, George Strait, Kenny Chesney), while Mickey Jack Cones (Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan) produced the track. He appears in Day of Reckoning alongside Zach Roerig, Cara Jade Myers, Billy Zane, Yelawolf, and Struggle Jennings.

Adkins kicked off his headlining What Color’s Your Wild Tour over the weekend. The run will feature more than a dozen dates across the U.S. before wrapping October 27th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

It was just announced that Adkins will appear in I Can Only Imagine 2, set for release on March 20, 2026. Produced by Lionsgate, it serves as the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster hit I Can Only Imagine. Adkins will reprise his role as Scott Brickell.
