The six-track set was recorded during recent pop-up club shows
Foo Fighters have surprise-released a new live EP, Are Playing Where??? Vol. 1, capturing the raw energy of their recent intimate, last-minute club shows across the United States. Available exclusively on the artist-centric platform Bandcamp, all proceeds from the six-track EP will be donated to local charities combating food insecurity in the cities where the performances were recorded.
The new EP features blistering live renditions of songs, with a focus on deep cuts from the band’s catalog, including tracks like “Alone + Easy Target,” “Exhausted,” “Wattershed,” “Weenie Beenie,” “White Limo,” and “Winnebago.” These surprise gigs, which took place in San Luis Obispo, CA, Santa Ana, CA, Washington, D.C., and New Haven, CT, were the band’s first live shows in over a year and marked the official live debut of their new drummer, Ilan Rubin.
The release of Are Playing Where??? Vol. 1 gives fans a unique opportunity to own a piece of these historic performances while contributing to a good cause. The album is available on a “pay what you wish” basis, allowing fans to stream it for free or purchase a digital copy and support the chosen charities.
The band said in a statement on their Bandcamp page, “Hope you check out more music while you are here. Long live rock!!!”
Following these U.S. dates and the new EP release, the band is now on tour in Asia and is scheduled to perform in Mexico later this year.
