The athlete is making his foray into country music

Former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Adam Wainwright is making a big splash with his music career. The three-time All-Star standout will make his Grand Ole Opry debut on Saturday, March 9th alongside Don McLean, The Oak Ridge Boys, Old Crow Medicine Show, and others, ahead of the release of his debut album.

“I’ve performed on some pretty big stages before but this one is different!” Wainwright shares on social media.

Wainwright, a veteran pitcher known for his distinguished career with the St. Louis Cardinals, premiered several new original songs during a post-game concert following the Cardinals’ final home game in September 2023. “Time To Fly” was dedicated to Cardinal fans and will appear on his debut album, due this spring, with guidance and musical contributions of Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Gary Baker.

Wainwright earned a reputation for his clutch performances, particularly in post-season play, where he played a pivotal role in the Cardinal 2006 and 2011 World Series victories. He wrapped his 19-year Cardinal career with his 200th win in his final start during the 2023 season.

Beyond his on-field success, Wainwright is recognized for his leadership and philanthropy. Looking toward the future, Wainwright, having signed with Fox Sports and MLB Network as a color commentator for MLB broadcasts has set his talents not only toward the game but also music.
