Launch is Apr 21st on crypto.com

Grammy-nominated Aloe Blacc and renowned street artist Philip Lumbang have teamed with crypto.com BeatHeadz for a NFT profile picture (PFP) project that welcomes all music, art, and philosophy lovers. Twenty-five percent of BeatHeadz’s proceeds from the initial mint’s primary sales will go towards charities that support music education.

Each of the 10,808 BeatHeadz in the collection that launches on Thursday, April 21st is a digital collectible avatar with a unique combination of headphones, hair, eyes, clothing, and accessories.

Blacc plans to experiment with generative music production and incorporate layered musical elements — similar to the visual traits common in PFP projects — into accompanying beats that will eventually be airdropped to collectors.

“Music artists can use NFTs to create scarcity for their music, which in turn should increase the value — because the demand will be higher, according to basic economic theory,” Blacc tells Medium about the project. “Right now, in the current state of the NFT space, musicians and recording artists are at the mercy of a marketplace that requires a visual component. I’m hopeful that there will be an embracing of a strictly audio component to NFTs. One really beautiful thing about NFTs is the smart contract structure that allows for royalties in subsequent sales of a token.”

Every collector will be entered to win one of ten custom BeatHeadz designed by Lumbang with a custom anthem by Blacc. The creators will collaborate with the winners on headphone design and character traits and help identify what makes them BeatHeadz unique.

BeatHeadz collectors will also receive monthly airdrops of Music Icon BeatHeadz. Each month, Blacc will select a music icon and artist Lumbang will turn that icon into a BeatHeadz. The Music Icon airdrops will also include rarity tiers, so some collectors may find their music icon on rare or ultra-rare background increasing their collectibility. There are special surprises in store for collectors who have all 12 of the first Music Icon airdrops one year after BeatHeadz mint.

All collectors will be able to help us explore their BeatHeadz characters in the Negaverse. Collectors will receive an airdrop of their BeatHeadz character as they appeared while being trapped by the Muse-Sick industry before being rescued. All characters in the Negaverse will be generative PFPs like the original BeatHeadz with combinations of traits unique to the BeatHeadz. Some collectors may find that their Negaverse BeatHeadz features rare versions of their Negaverse traits.

This isn’t Blacc’s first foray into the NFT world. He’s collaborated with Bored Ape Yacht Club and has paid tribute to the late Avicci.
