The trio rank No. 3 on Hot 100

Beyoncé ties Michael Jackson’s and Paul McCartney’s Billboard records for 20 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as a solo artist and 10 as a member of a group. The R&B/rap star marks the new feat with her latest single, “Break My Soul,” ranking at No. 7 on the chart ending June 30th. She has 10 with Destiny’s Child, the group the launched her career.

“Break My Soul” is the superstar’s first solo top 10 since 2016’s “Formation.” It’s also marks her first top 10 on the chart in two years after the “Savage” remix with Magan Thee Stallion reached No. 1 in May 2020. The song also concurrently becomes her first No. 1 on Billboard’s multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.

McCartney has 23 solo top 10 hits and 34 with The Beatles while Jackson has 30 top 10 solo songs and 11 with The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons.

“Break My Soul” is the first single from her forthcoming Act 1: Renaissance album that’s due July 29th. The star announced the album news last month by launching pre-save and pre-add links via her website. The album artwork was revealed last week featuring the superstar sporting a barely-there silver bikini while sitting on a glass horse.

“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world,” she shares. “It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”

The 16 song set will be released via her own Parkwood Entertainment, in partnership with Columbia Records, and is expected include both dance and country-leaning tracks.

This will be the first album since 2016’s Lemonade. Her last taste of new music was released in 2019 with the self-curated The Lion King: The Gift album, a musical ode to the classic story of Disney’s The Lion King feature film. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film includes the new original song, “Spirit,” performed by Beyoncé. The song was written specifically for the film by IIya Salmanzadeh, Timothy McKenzie and Beyoncé and is produced by Beyoncé and IIya and Labrinth.
