Special online fan premiere is May 12th

Big Time Rush’s James Maslow (aka James Diamond) stars as a video game influencer in the chaotic new romantic comedy We Need to Talk, premiering on digital platforms May 13th from Global Digital Releasing.

The public is also invited to a special screening of the film in which they can interact with the cast, see never before seen footage, and get merch on May 12th.

Scott (Maslow) is a self-absorbed online video-game influencer, who speaks to millions of fans every day, but simply cannot (or will not) communicate with the people he loves. He remains blissfully unaware that he’s the problem until one morning, as she’s walking out the door, his girlfriend Aly tells him, “we need to talk.” Her comment sends Scott spiraling into a day-long tailspin as he seeks wisdom, advice, and emotional support from his social media network of friends, internet trolls, and a myriad of online characters from around the world.

From writer/director Todd Wolfe, and also starring Daytime Emmy Award Winner Christel Khalil (The Young and the Restless), Emily Bett Rickards (Arrow), Johnathan Hernandez (HBO Max’s Gossip Girl), and Tray Chaney (The Wire), We Need to Talk features a legion of cameos by real gamers and influencers including Clementinator, DubDotDUBBY, Secret_LeonGids, GlitterXplosion, HipHopGamer, AlexER and FroKnowsPhoto.

In addition to Big Time Rush, James Maslow appeared in iCarly in 2008 and followed that turn up with urFRENZ (2009), Wild Things : Foursome (2010), Getaway (2013), The Frozen Ground (2013), and with his co-stars from Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, he also formed a real-life band of the same name.

In 2021, all four original band members officially reunited for the release of their first new music in eight years with “Call It Like I See It”. The band debuted the song with a performance at iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Philadelphia, followed by Jingle Ball Atlanta, and then went on to play two special live shows in Chicago and NYC, which sold out in a matter of minutes, blowing expectations out of the water and showcasing the power of the band’s devoted fandom.

This summer, the group will launch a 41 date tour across the United States. Produced by Live Nation, the Forever Tour will feature Dixie D’Amelio on select dates.
