The series was designed with Joel himself

Have you ever wanted to play harmonica like Billy Joel? Hohner is now giving musicians that chance as it unveils the Billy Joel Signature Harmonica. The new Signature Series was unveiled at NAMM last week in Anaheim, CA and was designed in close collaboration with the legend himself.

The model is based on the original Hohner harmonica the singer/songwriter has been playing since the beginning of his career, most notably in his hit “Piano Man.” It comes in the key of C and features custom engraved stainless steel cover plates with his logo mounted on a doussie comb. For fans, collectors and players alike, the harmonica is packaged in a beautiful display case, which also holds the score for the famous intro to “Piano Man.”

“With over 150 million albums sold, six Grammy Awards and hundreds of sold out shows around the globe, Billy Joel has been one of the world‘s greatest musicians for decades. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee touched generations of people on all continents with his music,” the company says. “With the song ‘Piano Man’ he created one of the most legendary songs of all time. To be heard on this song as well: His Hohner harmonica, which has always accompanied him on his way. So it was long overdue to honor Billy Joel with his own Hohner Signature Edition.”

The news comes as Joel is set to headline the unprecedented 67th consecutive show of his residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City which began in January 2014 with him playing one show per month at The World’s Most Famous Arena. The August 2019 show will be Joel’s 113th all-time performance at The Garden.

Citi cardmembers will have first access to pre-sale tickets for the August 28th show through Thursday, January 31st at 10 pm EST via citiprivatepass.com. Tickets for the August show will be available for purchase by the general public beginning at 10 am EST on Friday, February 1st via ticketmaster.com and by calling Ticketmaster at 866-858-0008. Joel has also announced a string of baseball stadium dates for this year. The Piano Man will also become the first-ever music franchise at Boston’s Fenway Park and Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park this summer. Joel will also visit many baseball stadiums for the first time ever in 2019.
