Track features Lainey Wilson & Jordan Davis

Radio and television personality Bobby Bones has released a new track, “Opening Act,” with his band, Bobby Bones & The Raging Idiots. Bones wrote the upbeat, light-hearted song with Raging Idiots member Eddie Garcia and emerging artist Brandon Ray, along with Lainey Wilson and Jordan Davis, the latter two who are also featured on track.

Bobby Bones & the Raging Idiots first debuted the song as an opener for country legend and one of Bones’ favorite artists, Garth Brooks. The track is an anthem for opening acts everywhere with Bones, Wilson, and Davis having a laugh about their own experiences paying their dues as concert openers. The lyrics poke fun at how opening acts often feel with lines including, “Nobody cares about the opening act/ You don’t know a single song that they play/ Your only wish is that they get off stage/ They said sing along and no one sang/ It’s true, it’s true, it’s true/ Nobody cares about us, cause we’re the opening act.”

“Playing with the Raging Idiots, we always want to make people laugh and put on a really entertaining show,” Bones shares of the song’s inspiration. “When you’re the opening act, there are always people who are just there for the opener so I wanted to write a funny song about that experience. The first time we played this song was when we opened for Garth Brooks, so it was pretty fitting.”

Earlier this week, Wilson picked up her first-ever CMA Awards as she was named Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the 56th annual event. During the broadcast, Davis also scored his first-ever CMA trophy for Song of the Year for his 2x Platinum-selling No. 1 hit, “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan.
